What happened
Security forces killed 11 militants in two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, Pakistan’s military media wing, ISPR, said on 9 September 2026. Radio Pakistan reported that eight were killed in Kharan and three in Washuk.
The Express Tribune reported that the Kharan clash took place on 6 September, when militants tried to set up a roadblock and disrupt local traffic. Troops intercepted and engaged them, killing eight, according to the ISPR account. The Washuk operation followed on 7 September, when forces raided a hideout after receiving reports of militants in the area. Three were killed after what ISPR described as an intense firefight.
Troops recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives, which ISPR said were intended for making improvised explosive devices. ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing to find any remaining militants in the area.
The military’s account
ISPR described those killed as “Indian sponsored” and used the label “Fitna al Hindustan”. Radio Pakistan and the Express Tribune both presented that attribution as the military’s claim, and neither independently verified it. The identities of those killed and any casualties among troops were not given in the reports.
The statement said the wider counterterrorism campaign would continue. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces, the Express Tribune reported.
Context
The operations are the latest in a series announced by ISPR in recent weeks. KhabarWire reported on a 72-hour sweep in which 48 militants were said to have been killed, on the foiled attack on a customs house on 1 September, and on operations in Khuzdar and Kharan in August in which 17 militants were reported killed.

ISPR said clearance work was under way in both districts. Further updates are likely to come through the military’s media wing, and no timeline for the end of the operations was given.
