What happened
A lady police constable was killed and her husband and child were wounded when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in the Absar area of Turbat, Balochistan, as she travelled to duty, the Balochistan Home Department and police said.
The attack was reported on 17 May 2026, a day after the shooting. According to police, Constable Shakeela was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, Sunil Jan, and their child when the assailants opened indiscriminate fire near the Absar Research Farm area. Constable Shakeela was killed on the spot, while her husband and child sustained serious injuries.
Police said a case had been registered and a search operation was under way, and that security had been tightened at the entry and exit points of the city.

The Balochistan Home Department condemned what it called a “cowardly act of terrorism,” saying that attacks on women and children reflected an extremist mindset, Pakistan Today reported.
