What happened

The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee has finalised the schedule for the province’s board examinations and the next academic session, ProPakistani reported.

Under the plan approved at a meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, annual matriculation examinations for classes IX and X will begin on 31 March after Eid, while intermediate examinations will start on 15 April.

The calendar

The 2026–27 academic session will begin on 1 April. Matriculation results will be announced on 1 June, followed by intermediate results on 15 June.

The committee postponed the implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus; the revised syllabus will now apply to classes IX and X from the 2027 annual examinations. The existing vacation schedule was kept, with summer holidays from 1 June to 31 July and winter vacations from 22 December to 31 December.

Winter holidays unchanged

A proposal to revise the winter holidays was discussed but dropped after representatives of Cambridge schools opposed changes to their academic calendar, citing alignment with international schedules. Officials said any revision to the winter break would require another meeting in April.
