What happened
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday 3 February 2026 for a two-day state visit, the first by a Kazakh head of state to Pakistan in 23 years. A six-member squadron of the Pakistan Air Force provided a formal aerial escort as his aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, and the visiting president was received at Islamabad by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
The PAF formation leader extended a greeting to the visiting dignitary on behalf of the prime minister and the people of Pakistan, the agency said, describing the escort as a display of hospitality and of the two countries’ relations.

Ahead of the arrival, The Nation reported that Tokayev is accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior cabinet ministers and other senior officials. During the visit he was scheduled to meet the president of Pakistan, hold talks with the prime minister and address the Pakistan–Kazakhstan Business Forum.
