What happened
The PTI-led opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) launched a nationwide protest campaign on Friday, holding demonstrations in nearly all major cities against the imprisonment of former prime minister Imran Khan, rising inflation and higher fuel prices.

They condemned what they described as increasing political repression in Punjab, citing heavy police deployment at the protest venue and alleged midnight raids on the homes of political activists a day earlier. Police arrested three participants, and TTAP Punjab demanded their release.
In Karachi, PTI failed to stage any significant protest after law enforcement agencies placed containers at all entry and exit points of the Red Zone around the Karachi Press Club shortly after Friday prayers, sealing the venue announced by the party. The measures caused severe traffic disruption across the city’s South district before the containers were removed hours later. PTI Karachi spokesperson Fauzia Siddiqui acknowledged that the party could not hold the protest, citing both tight security and what she called organisational issues.
