Former chief of army staff Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was admitted to an intensive care unit after suffering a head injury in a fall at his residence, according to reporting published on 11 February 2026 and attributed to Geo News.

Background
Bajwa served as Pakistan’s chief of army staff from 2016 until his retirement on 29 November 2022. Before taking the army’s top post he held senior appointments at the General Headquarters, including inspector general of training and evaluation, and earlier served in 10 Corps as a lieutenant colonel working as a general staff officer.
He also served as a brigade commander with a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and was commandant of the Infantry School in Quetta. He belongs to the Baloch Regiment.
